Snoop Lion, Daz and Kurupt Perform at PacSun’s Golden State of Mind Event Series

This past weekend in L.A., PacSun presented “Common Threads,” its latest installment of their lifestyle series “Golden State Of Mind” under Lot 613′s roof in Downtown Los Angeles. The series is a unique ecosystem of art, fashion and hip-hop, combined with authentic elements of SoCal culture. Golden State Of Mind explores an interesting mash up and crossover of pop culture featuring skate culture (DC), action sports (Hurley) and urban fashion (Diamond Supply Co.), while acknowledging those who influence as well as inspire.

The most recent event featured Snoop Lion as well as Daz Dillinger and Kurupt. Collectively, they performed some classics, including “What’s My Name,” “Gin & Juice,” and “Ain’t No Fun.”
“We gone have us a good time, give them some of that stuff they love,” Kurupt told XXLMag.com. “Dogg is excited and everybody is just ready to have a good time on that mic!” He also added that he’ll be expanding his horizons. “I’m gonna produce my first film directed by Keith Robinson, dropping my solo album L42D (Living 4 2 Day), staying active in both things acting and these records its what I live for.”

After Snoop and crew rocked the show, Daz discussed his new album, the new Dogg Pound album, and a few of his other upcoming projects. “I got a new album that’s dropping Dec 4 calledWit it Wit it, I got the Dogg Pound album “That’s My Work” single coming out, I got two movies that’s dropping called Make It Rain and Atlanta strip club motion picture featuring Candy, Alpha Mega, Shawty and a whole lot of people from Atlanta and I shot another movie called The Speezot which is a comedy. Master P Holds Charity Event in Beverly Hills

After two decades in the game, Master P has left his mark not only on the music, but also in the community. This past weekend at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, the New Orleans rapper hosted the inaugural black tie charity ball for his foundation “Let The Kids Grow.” The organization was founded to support at-risk urban youth with after school activities and performing arts programs, giving them the resources to pursue dreams and thrive. The event honored Los Angeles Lakers star Dwight Howard, Usher, Romeo Miller and other influencers for their work in the community. “I use to be a little teenager in New Orleans selling jewelry for all of No Limit and Cash Money and Master P use to come and give me $100 for every ‘A’ I had on my report card, that probably ages him a little bit,” said Rocsi Diaz. “He was always such a generous person and to the community, when I first got on 106 he was one of the first people that reached out and was like I’m proud of you keep up the good work, he’s always been one of my biggest motivators and I’m just glad I can give back to him and help out.”

J Cole New ALBUM: Coming Very Soon..

J. Cole has revealed the release date of his next album, titled Born Sinner.

The sophomore release is set for January 28, 2013, where the rapper revealed in a Ustream video and subsequent viral video.

The rapper’s first album, Cole World: The Sideline Story, went gold and was well received commercially and critically.

The date is set as it is, because January 28 is also the Roc Nation emcee’s 28th birthday.

Cole and Kendrick Lamar also have an album set in the near future, but no date has been set.

Drake Tops Jay-Z For R&B/Hip-Hop Chart No. 1s Record

Canadian rapper Drake overtakes Jay-Z as the rapper with the most No. 1s in the history of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week with a jump to the top as the featured guest on 2 Chainz's "No Lie," bringing the former's total of leaders to 10.

Rap icon Jay-Z pegged his ninth leader with his Kanye West collaboration "Ni**as In Paris" last November, while Drake tied HOVA at nine No. 1s in February when he topped the list -in back-to-back fashion- with a pair of singles from the smash "Take Care" album; "Make Me Proud," featuring Nicki Minaj, and "The Motto," featuring Lil Wayne.

In an era where featured artist listings are plentiful, it is no surprise that Drake has had more leaders (seven) as a guest act (on tracks by artists such as Trey Songz, Timbaland, Nicki Minaj and DJ Khaled) than he has had as a lead artist. Other than the aforementioned "Take Care" chart-toppers from earlier this year, Drake hit No. 1 with his very first charting single "Best I Ever Had" in June 2009, on which he was the sole credited act.

Among his nine No. 1s, Jay-Z's has been the lead voice on four, including his shared credits on "Ni**as" and "Empire State of Mind" with Alicia Keys (2009). Unlike Drake, Jay-Z's first time in the No. 1 spotlight was earned with a guest role on Mariah Carey's "Heartbreaker" in 1999, three years after his chart debut with the No. 17-peaking "Ain't No Ni**a," featuring Foxy Brown.

Drake's quick ascension to a double-digit No. 1 tally is quite impressive, as it's been just three years, one month and three weeks since he claimed his first No. 1 and only five weeks longer than that since he first graced the list. By contrast it took Jay-Z longer (three years, six months and one week) just to get his first No. 1 from the time of his initial chart appearance while 12 years and one month passed between his first and ninth No. 1s.

BG - Sentenced to 14 yrs

Days after being sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for gun possession and witness tampering, B.G. says he’s ready to start his prison bid.
“I am just ready to get my sentence started because it’s not RIP BG it’s FREE BG … I feel happy and blessed that I will still be a young man and still be able to see daylight because I am someone, a dad, a brother and a son,” the 31-year-old rapper told  TMZ.
He added that he’ll have upcoming music that will be released while he’s away.
B.G. had previously pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm during a 2009 traffic stop in eastern New Orleans. Police found three guns in total and the car itself was stolen from a rental parking lot.
Dorsey was later accused of trying to convince one of his two associates to falsely claim ownership of the weapon. One of the two associates, Demounde Pollard, claimed ownership of the gun, only for it to be later revealed that it belonged to Dorsey.
Making matters worse was the fact that prosecutors linked Dorsey in court filings to two of the city’s most high-profile alleged murderers, Telly Hankton and Walter Porter, who they say B.G. name-dropped in videos.
B.G. splashed onto the rap scene in the late 1990s as a member of the Hot Boys, alongside Lil Wayne, Juvenile and Turk.

Swizz Beatz Talks Working on Dr. Dre’s Detox Album, Collaborating With DMX

Swizz Beatz is constantly working. But whether it’s newer ventures like being a pitchman for Reebok or dabbling into art, Swizzy hasn’t forgot about the music. During a recent interview, Swizz Beatz recently revealed that he shared some studio time with Dr. Dre for the legendary producer’s notoriously-anticipated album, Detox, and is also working on bringing DMX back into the fold.
As previous accounts from rappers and producers have already indicated, Swizzy says that Dre is sitting on a plethora of hot records.
“I done heard 10 Detox worth of smashes,” Swizz told Bootleg Kev about getting in the studio and working with Dre about two to two and a half months ago. “Just put yourself in Dre’s shoes. When you a perfectionist and when you set the bar so high and when people are expecting so much of you and from you, you don’t want to feel that at any type of way and you don’t want the pressure of that, especially when you already won the title.

“Even with Beats by Dre success and all that, he still loves music,” he added. “He’s one of the most consistent, even if he hasn’t put out records every year.”
Swizz also revealed his big plans for DMX, who recently dropped the The Weigh In mixtape to what fans’ appetites, before unleashing his album.
“I’ve heard a lot of records,” Swizzy told Bootleg Kev about X’s upcoming project. “I’ve actually worked on a couple of records as well. As far as where an album’s at now, because a lot of new material happens, I don’t know where it’s at right now.
